TIG Welder / Tube Fabrication Technician

Pay: $18–19/hr (DOE)
Location: Brevard, NC

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented TIG Welder / Tube Fabrication Technician to support precision manufacturing of thin-wall tube assemblies used in high-quality industrial and specialty applications. This role performs hands-on fabrication from material preparation through final inspection, ensuring all products meet strict quality, safety, and dimensional standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate TIG welding equipment to weld stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel thin-wall tubing

  • Produce clean, consistent welds that meet visual, dimensional, and structural quality standards

  • Perform pre-weld fabrication tasks including cutting, deburring, fitting, aligning, and surface preparation

  • Complete post-weld finishing such as polishing, cleaning, and visual inspection

  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings

  • Measure and verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and gauges

  • Identify weld defects, troubleshoot issues, and make process adjustments

  • Maintain welding equipment, replace consumables, and keep work area organized

  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality control standards

  • Meet production targets while maintaining consistent craftsmanship


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum 12 months of TIG welding or tube fabrication experience

  • Ability to pass a weld test and basic metrology assessment

  • Experience working with thin-wall tubing preferred

  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow written work instructions

  • Proficient with hand tools, measuring tools, and fabrication equipment

  • Able to lift materials and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
