For decades, Friday Services has been a trusted workforce partner to employers throughout the region. Today, we’re building on that foundation by continually expanding how we support our clients and employees – moving beyond traditional staffing to deliver more flexible workforce solutions. Our Story

Friday Services was founded in 1980 in Hendersonville, North Carolina, when a small secretarial support business led by Debbie Wilson began helping local companies with administrative needs. As clients asked for on-site support, the business naturally evolved into staffing—marking the beginning of what became known as “Girl Friday Services,” inspired by the classic film His Girl Friday.
From the start, one principle has guided everything we do: staffing is about more than filling roles. It’s about understanding businesses, knowing people, and creating the right match so both can succeed.

Growing with the Workforce

In the mid 80’s as workforce needs evolved, so did Friday Services, under the leadership of Diane and John Modaff, and later their son, David Modaff. The company expanded into technical, professional, and specialized recruiting, growing through both organic development and strategic acquisitions.
Throughout every phase of growth, Friday Services remained focused on the highest levels of service, preserving continuity, values, and a long-term perspective. Something our clients, candidates, and employees consistently value.
Leadership With a People-First Perspective
Acquired from David and Lynda Modaff in 2022, Friday Services is now led by William Irving, who has served as CEO since 2021. William brings a background in leadership development, high performance, and organizational excellence, shaped in part by years working within the Olympic Movement, supporting elite U.S. athletes and teams in performance-driven environments to win medals in both summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic sport.
Before joining Friday Services, William served as CEO of the nation’s largest outdoor adventure company, where hiring, retention, and culture were critical to its success. These experiences continue to shape Friday’s approach focusing not just on skills, but on fit, high performers and environments they succeed, and long-term outcomes.
William leads the company alongside Lisa Sargent, General Manager, who has been with Friday Services since 1994. Lisa’s deep institutional knowledge, operational leadership, and commitment to people are central to the culture and consistency Friday is known for.

Many people group together the terms staffing agency and temp agency. Friday Services offers both services.

As a Staffing Service, Fridays offers a wider range of options with more solutions to meet the needs of our business clients. Friday Services recruits prospective employees with the proper training, accreditation and education credentials to provide clients with the skilled employee needed to do the job.

As a Professional Service, Fridays provides skills assessment to prospective workers to assure clients that Friday Services prepares and assigns talented, dedicated workers to do the job right for all assignments.
